Reason for applying
“We are participating in the Artisanal Mining Grand Challenge in order to apply the ASMSpotter software to a new target geography (Ghana), conduct ground truthing work in the field and work with the project beneficiary, the Ghanaian Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, to improve ASM identification and monitoring activities in the country. A letter of support was received from the Ghanian Ministry for piloting the software in the context of the World Bank supported ASGM formalization programme. The Artisanal Mining Grand Challenge gives us the chance to take the innovation to the next level and prepares us for finding additional clients and creating maximum impact on local mining communities by providing the basis for formalization efforts.“
